How it Works
With timeshare, consumers make a one-time purchase of an interest in furnished resort accommodations at a fraction of whole ownership costs. Payment of an annual maintenance fee and property taxes are usually required. Each condominium, or unit, of a vacation ownership resort is divided into intervals, either by the week or points equivalent, which are sold separately.
The traditional interval week program offers owners the use of their accommodations for one week - either for a specific week during the year or for a week during a time period or season.
With points - or credits-based programs, you buy points or credits that can be used at various resort destinations.
Vacation exchange allows owners the opportunity to trade their vacation week for new or different vacation experiences at other comparable resorts across the country and around the world. Exchange offers a variety of vacation experiences, from ski slopes to beaches, modern cities to quaint villages, with an equally diverse range of accommodation types villas, efficiencies, condominiums, cabins, and many more.
The average timeshare purchase is about $15,000 with an annual maintenance fee of approximately $500 (plus taxes and other exchange related fees may apply).
